This colour, and looked like new. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one before, I assumed they’d all been crushed a long time ago. Really old guy driving it, too. Oh, it was smelly and noisy.

GM wants you to forget that engine ever existed.

I happened to see an Olds Diesel last year at a car show. It was quite interesting to see, since I don't believe I had seen one before.

Possibly the lowest specific output of any Diesel engine ever put into production.

Not 100% sure you need to include the word diesel. 21hp/L feel like it should be in the running for worst of all time. And its 39 torques/L isn’t much better.

That's a fair point

I don’t blame them

They blow goats in diesel guise, but those 350 DX Oldsmobile blocks are the strongest of the bunch. They’re the ticket for boosted applications. We have a ton of them in inventory and are always on the lookout because they are getting tougher to find.

Well its better than a Model T. Probably not faster though.

I dated a girl who had one of these in high school, same color. Parents were divorced and her dad owned a service station, so she always had a succession of weird cars coming in and out of her life. We took it to the drive in to see Purple Rain and one of the Mad Max movies. After the evening of listening to radio sound, the dual batteries were dead. I called my dad from a pay phone (a what?) at 1 am to come and help us, and we tried to push it out so he could jump it. That car wasn’t going a damn inch with three teenagers pushing and one driving. If I recall, she drove it through the next winter and we took it skiing one weekend in the Poconos.

She had a couple of better cars in the time I knew her: a 1950 Dodge something, an early 70s dart, and a pinto in which I taught her how to drive stick. Fortunately, I was the car jockey at a Pontiac dealership in high school so I learned stick on T1000s and the occasional Firebird.

That is a random assortment of cars. And that had to be seriously heavy, geez. I don't even know what a T1000 is, X platform or something?

The T-1000 was a Chevette in Pontiac’s clothing.

Surely not the lowest when you take into consideration all industrial diesels ever produced. Not even the lowest of those installed in cars since the Valmet Jeep Wagoneers only managed just a tad over 20hp/l.

The 5.7 small block diesel did better but only just at 120hp. That's 21/liter
